Driven & Deranged - 5th Encounter

I'd hate to have to spell out the actual name, surely anyone here can put D and D together to get 5e?

I haven't played even Pathfinder (let alone a more recently updated TTRPG classic) in a very long time, especially given all the bad press and poor decision making out of WotC these days. But. Well. I backed a kickstarter for a GM-less 5e campaign that can be played with 4 PCs or with as few as 1 PC and the rest of the party made up of NPCs.

And I had just got my reward copy of the first book in this campaign and then I was in the little slice of heaven in a nearby town that sells all sorts of nerdery, and they had not just the fresh-off-the-press 2024 Player's Handbook, but the alternate art cover version of the 2024 PHB.

Which, to be perfectly honest with you, looks gorgeous and also the PHB is cheaper relatively speaking than in the US, so it's not quite as unaffordable.

I got it, of course.

And have since been zipping through that GM-less campaign with my Sorcerer tiefling with Cleric spells from Magic Initiate who will later multiclass into Cleric for maximum magical chaos and carnage and also realm saving. That too.

Of course, and if you read even two posts on this site you'll realise that this is a Theme™️, I had to make some stuff first. Like, y'know, miniatures.

Printable Heroes does a great selection of paper minis for free, so I assembled my party and some enemies out of those, just a simple job of picking the pdfs, printing them out of 200gsm paper, cutting them out with the cricut and sticking the two sides of each on together. They worked really well! They were all distinctive, stood perfectly upright, were stable (avoid use in strong winds?) and fitted the battlemap grids well. It was a fun hour of papercraft and will definitely be my go-to for getting more minis in future!

I'm only, maybe a fifth or so? of the way through the book 1 campaign of the Domain of the Deathless King, so I've yet to see how it builds up as it goes but I'm enjoying it very much, and it's a nice break from screens for when I need one. Would totally recommend to anyone needing a solo or GM-less campaign, it's just super easy to go through but still lets you be creative and have your role play game fun. 5 out of 5 for DDK!
