Hanging Around

Irecently discovered that Contrado do... affordable fabric printing. But they also do cheap sample prints. Even an entire A1 size piece, fully printed with whatever you want, will only set you back £15, not including postage.
So, I got two test prints on their cotton satin (to make paying shipping worthwhile, otherwise the postage for my roll of MtG paper for my box would be almost as much as the paper). One was an A4 piece, the other on A3 so I could see how a single panel and a multi-panel print came out.
(By panel, I mean, single image.)
I then turned two of the panels I had printed into wall hangings.
Of course, getting a hold of hangers/bell pull ends in the UK seems to be a futile endeavour so to hang them, I ended up down B&Q buying 4mm brass rod and some 0.8mm brass wire.
Between the wire (plus needle-nose pliers) and the bar (plus my Dremel with cutting wheel and grinding bits) I managed a half-decent hanger for the first panel. It's now hung in the hallway at home.
The leftover bar I turned into a hanging bar for the second hanging which is over the door in the living room.
The first hanging is just the panel itself, with a backing piece of linen, sewn to have a rolled end top and bottom to hold the hanging bar.
The second, the panel filled the print sample so I had barely any room for hems, it's back with cotton cambric and then there's a map-print cotton fat quarter that I took a strip off, hemmed on the short edges and sewed into the top hem of the hanging to it would, well, hang.
Just two quick little projects, but they were fun, satisfying and now my walls look a little less bare!
I have two little panels of the Maelstrom flag and the Norvrandt map as well, but I'm not sure what I'd like to use them for yet.

I do have a custom print fabric to make some bags out of for carrying the groceries back from Aldi, but that project might not happen immediately. I need to finish the box, and maybe build another Gemsect first!
Stay tuned 😎
