Site Generators vs HTML

So I am well aware that using a static site generator like Publii isn't the done thing on Neocities. I get that the point is to build your own site from the ground up etc. etc..

I wish I could! But I have a full-time job, plus the demands of life in general, something approximating a social life and I do not have the time to learn HTML. I don't have the time to code different pages and connect up all the links and make sure I've got it all working and oh I've changed that there so I 'd like to keep things consistent and now need to go and change the same line in other places...

Better to have something done imperfectly than have perfection sat on your desktop forever incomplete. Better to use a site generator and still be off social media and building your own space that you still own and control than stuck on the same four sites with a html project saved that you'll never actually finish because who's got the damn time these days!

If it helps anyone, Publii is free (some additional themes/plugins are paid for if you choose to) and runs as an offline program that's fully graphical. No command-line or code-based work needed unless you want to add it in yourself! I really like working with it, makes putting a site together diverting and interesting and something I can pick up and work on in a spare ten minutes, easily.

If you've got the skills or the time to acquire them, go for the back to first principles approach! If not, eh, done is better than not. Use a generator, it's fine.
